I started late but it was almost a full moon so I did not even need to turn on my headlamp. I made it to High Creek camp about dark but I had a permit for the summit camp. After High Creek the winds started to pick up. By the time I made the summit they were screaming. It was soooo cold. While setting up my tent, I inadvertently spilled my water bottle inside of the tent. It immediately turned to ice/snow which made it easy to pick up and throw outside. Wind did not stop all night. I have spent many nights out in the woods but this was the coldest night ever. Please don't underestimate the number of layers you may need. I used them all. The sunrise was epic. Last week I had San Bernardino mountain to myself, which was cool. But sunrise alone on Gorgonio was downright spiritual. This completes my six pack challenge. Thank you so much for creating this challenge. It has been super fun and I will definitely be back next year. Happy hiking!
