This was a Memorial Day weekend I won't soon forget. It was the grand finale for my completion of the 2018 Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge, plus the two alternates, and we did it in style. We bagged Mount San Jacinto Peak (tram route) on Saturday and Mount San Gorgonio Peak (Vivian Creek) on Sunday. This was my first experience bagging two major peaks back to back. The weather on both days was great and the views were absolutely amazing.
Though they aren't part of this challenge, this was my first time this year bagging more than one peak on two of these Six-Pack hikes. For Mount Baldy (10,064′), we also bagged West Baldy (9,988′) and Mount Harwood (9,551′). For San Bernardino Peak (10,649′), we also bagged San Bernardino East Peak (10,691′) and Anderson Peak (10,840′). So in a way this was more of a 12-pack.
There is nothing more rewarding for me than summiting San G. I have 18 plus miles on this hike to think about all my past adventures this year, bagging all these great peaks. And when you're taking those last few steps to the San G summit, it all comes to a head and that feeling of accomplishment is so overwhelming. You feel like you're capable of doing anything at that point. And the best thing of all is that you want to do more.
