This hike is the land of faux peaks! You’re climbing the mountain looking at what you think is the tallest mountain before you and just as you’re getting towards the top the trail curves around the mountain revealing and even larger peak behind it you must climb! You’d think you’d learn your lesson not to get your hopes up but you do only to find yourself looking up to another peak! The good thing is the trail is beautiful and worth the climb! Manzanita Flats was by far my favorite section of the trail and maybe of all the six pack of peak hikes. The trail is a consistent gradual incline with a few tough spots and very easy to follow. There is a spring that was still running this weekend not too far from the camp to filter water from. It was very warm and towards the afternoon there were many gnats flying around us. I’m guessing it gets worse with summer so maybe a net or bug spray would be good to have. Even though this was a very long hike it was one of my favorites!

    1. I did it all in one day. Started at 5am breaker for nice long lunch at the summit and was down by 3pm. Next year if I have backpacking equipment I’d like to camp there.
