   I love the shot of the final ascent up Mt Baldy, although it always feels much steeper when you’re actually ON it! 🙂

   Any idea what kind of bird that is, @merbnz?

   Thanks Jeff. Yes that last push does always seem steeper!
   I’m pretty sure the woodpecker is a Ladder-Backed. I think it was a female because it was entering it’s nest through a hole in the trunk of the tree, I could hear the chicks and I didn’t see a bright red tuft on it’s head. This was about 1/4 mile below the peak.
