I have lived in San Diego County since 1979. I've been day hiking local trails since about 2008. But today was the first time I have ever been to this peak. And it was the 6th peak for me! So it was an awesome day. Gorgeous conditions, actually chilly at Paso Picacho CG when we started at 7:30. Beautiful views. Azalea Glen trail was beautiful with lots of shade. We.planned.on doing the loop but we were getting conflicting information as to whether the fire lookout road was open. When we got to the cutoff for the road we neither saw nor heard any work going on. Just as we approached the summit a work truck drove up and we found out that the crew wasn't working today so we were all clear to hike the loop. I like to geocache and there were many along the trail. That took a little bit of time and we got back to the car at 12:30. Wonderful day. Beautiful hike!
