Tips From Your Ambassador:
1. Get there early to the parking lot. It gets filled up quickly. Adventure pass is needed.
2. There’s water in the beginning of the hike, but that is it. The trail up to the saddle is cooler in the shade of the morning, but the trail is exposed to the sun. So make sure to bring enough water.
3. The trail has lots of logs to go over and overgrown bushes, so make sure to wear long pants to cover your legs.

If you are looking to escape the crowds at Icehouse Canyon, Ontario Peak was a welcome and beautiful alternative to Cucamonga Peak. The parking lot was full at 6:15 am and the trail was full of people going up to the saddle. Once you break off from the crowds by taking a right to the Ontario Peak Trail, you pretty much have a peaceful green trail and the peak all to yourself. The trails winds it way around the mountain and up to the peak if you keep hanging right. You can take the side trip to Bighorn Peak also on this trail. I got to meet another ambassador Bill and his group on this trail also. Thank you for providing the alternates this year, I’ve enjoyed these more than the originals!
