My friend Monica and I started our drive up from San Jose around 8:45am and got to the parking area around 10:30am. The lot was full so we parked in a turn-out that was a 5-min walk down the road. The restrooms next to the lot were open. We hiked Mt. Tam via Matt Davis and Railroad Grade trails. According to AllTrails, it’s 7.4 miles but my iPhone logged 10 miles. The elevation change was gradual and there were lots of mountain bikers and other hikers. The view from the top and along the way were stunning. The entire hike took 4.5 hours, which included 30 min at the peak where we refueled and took photos, and we made it back to San Jose by 5pm.
