Having talked to a Ranger the previous day about Rancho San Antonio Park, I decided to wait until sunrise to engage in the hike. There are many Mountain Lions that this park…and since I was hiking alone, I wanted to have people around. In retrospect, I could have started earlier. Most of the trail is a vehicle dirt road…I am guessing for PG&E to maintain its towers. When I hit the Black Mountain turn off, the 1 of 2 miles was very steep, muddy and the path was narrow. With 1 mile left, it turns back into a road. The views were fine… Â lots of people.
No Mountain Lions were spotted…. but, I know they are there!
