Celebrated my birthday with a family hike to the summit of Volcan Mountain! For mid-January, it was warm in the Julian area. Only very small patches of snow off trail from the last storm in December. There is no parking lot at the trailhead, only parking is off pavement along Farmers Road. There were a lot of cars when we got there around 11;30AM. Volcan Mountain trail is pretty wide, so it is easy to keep socially distant from others. We were able to eat a snack at our favorite bench overlooking the town at the summit – It was the perfect birthday celebration!
