After Flatiron mountain hike yesterday, Picacho Peak was our recovery hike. The trail starts from the northern side with a gradual ascent until you reach the bench then it's a steep descent and the first cable part of the trail. From here, there will be couple more cable assisted trail. If you were scared at Flatiron, these cables will give you somewhat of a security (at least that's what my wife felt). At the summit, the wind picked up with some strong gust. On our way down, it felt like the wind was hitting the side of the mountain then redirecting and pushing me off the trail. So be aware of this when there is strong wind.

On this hike we met & befriended a lovely couple, Dennis & Kyong who shared their homemade jerky & hope to hike with them in the future.

  1. Hi Dennis! I’m connected now with you and LuAnn. I can’t begin to tell you how great it was to meet you two at Picacho Peak. Kyong and I both just loved spending the time with you guys on the mountain, . . . you two are awesome people. We’re hoping to get together with you two whenever we get over to San Diego! We’re getting ready to make more jerky and bread here real soon, so hey, . . come and get it!
