Cucamonga Peak is my fifth peak in the 2021 #sixpackofpeaks Challenge. The trail head starts out at 5,000 feet. As you snake your way up Ice House Canyon, check out the cool little houses that line the bottom of the canyon. After about 3.6 miles, you reach Icehouse Saddle. From here, you have about 2.5 miles to the 8,859 foot summit of Cucamonga Peak. I decided that after the summit of Cucamonga, I would continue on to Etiwanda Peak (8,662 feet). It’s 1.5 miles from Cucamonga to Etiwanda, but well worth the added effort. Personally I think the views from Etiwanda are nicer. On the return I decided to summit Cucamonga again. I wound up with 14.9 miles and roughly 5,200 feet of elevation gain. Don’t forget to fill out your permit for the Cucamonga Wilderness.
