A predawn start of me again. This was a new route for me, as I have done San J via Marion & the Tram before. Made good time to the summit, although the last bit took some effort. The summit was crowded, so I did not stay, plus I needed to be back in San Diego for dinner with friends. Pretty much descended the whole way with only short stops.

My favorite route up San J! How did you like it?
Less painful than Marion
I would have liked it more if I was not on the clock. Enjoyed the fewer crowds for much of the trail (vs tram). Want to do an overnight one day…
I like the views as you climb up Devil’s Slide, then the forested section up to Wellman’s Divide. The summit is always nice, too, unless it’s crowded (a benefit to hiking midweek).
