The main trail is an access road and tends to be icy and snowy about halfway up.  I brought crampons but didn't have to put them on as there were intermittent patches of dirt or soft snow to navigate around.  The Five Oaks trail was generally clear so I would recommend taking this option, especially back down the mountain.
