I had been planning to hike Cucamonga and Baldy back to back over the holiday weekend, Baldy on Saturday and Cucamonga on Sunday. To prepare for this, I saved the trailheads for each one into my phone as favorites. Being the brilliant hiker that I am, I switched them and didn't realize I was on the wrong trail until I was about halfway up Cucamonga. Luckily, this was a pretty easy swap, but hopefully not a mistake I'll be making again.
The hike generally went pretty smooth. I arrived at the Icehouse Canyon Trailhead around 6:45a and was starting the trail by 7a. The weather was nice and cool but not cool enough to warrant a jacket or pants (I prefer the shorts and t-shirt approach). With a steady trek and taking most of my breaks close to the top, I was able to reach the summit by 10a, which was just in time for the sun to really come through and help me get some nice photos.

Glad it worked out! At least you didn’t accidentally climb the same peak twice! 😉
