Upon reaching the summit of Cucamonga, for some ungodly reason, I decided I felt great and wanted to go for Ontario peak, since it was “so close”. So, from Cucamonga Peak I hiked back down to the split in the Icehouse Canyon Trail that splits into Cucamonga, Ontario, Baldy, etc, which is fairly close to the initial trailhead. From this point, I went for the trail to Ontario Peak. It was around 11a at this point and getting into some heat on the mountain, so I wouldn't recommend hiking at this time. However, I was able to enjoy a pleasant and fairly isolated hike to the Ontario summit and enjoyed some time to myself at the top. I would argue that this trail is a bit more difficult as compared to the branch leading to Cucamonga and also a more rewarding view, but this may also be because I was already tired from hiking Cucamonga earlier. Overall, the 2 peaks in 1 day was a success. The total was well over 20mi for the day and quite tiring, but definitely worth it.
