Well, where do I start?  I was excited to check this peak off the list.  We have had this on our sites a time before, but Mother Nature decided to dump 6” a couple days before. So, we waited patiently for the next available weekend.
Well, this last Saturday was the day to hike Fletcher Peak. Of course the night before it snowed a little bit up in the Mt. Charleston Forest area.  Knowing this we decided to get outdoors and give it a shot. We got to the trail head at 6am and a brisk 30°. I wasn’t too worried about the condition on the trail as the snow was in patches on side hills.
We hit snow within the first half mile and was manageable. Nothing to worry about. With that being said, as we got to the first saddle and started on the second section of switch backs the snow increased to about 3-4” the rest of the way to the second saddle.
This is where we decided to push on even though the trail couldn’t be seen and the snow level increased to about a foot. We hit the crest above the trail to get a better idea of what was ahead.
Checking out the trail conditions we decided to just find a place to relax and have a snack before we headed back.
Took a chance that the trail would be clear enough to navigate without post holing from the snow the previous night.  Stopped 1.4 miles from the summit. Easily could of made it only if I had my snow shoes that were back in my truck at the trailhead 🤦🏻‍♂️.
I can’t wait to go back and tackle this one! Love this Peak trail. Tons of scenery!
