I arrived at trailhead parking (lots of room) at 6:30 am and took pictures of the sunrise. Waited for the rest of the group for almost an hour, then the 6 of us started our hike at 7:30am.  The weather was about mid 60’s and clear. It was my first time hiking this trail and was so very excited to be here.

The first 3 miles weren’t that bad; with the last mile being a bit more challenging because of the steep incline and somewhat slippery trail from dirt and loose gravel. It took us just under 2 hours to reach the peak, and boy! What an awesome surprise to see all the great view from the top!! Weather was sunnier with just a little bit of breeze and made for a perfect time to take a break before making our descent.

We spent an extra half hour to take our summit pics and we were off to head back down to trailhead.. Descending the steep 1st mile took a little bit more time as we had to be more cautious; securing each and every step to avoid slipping and falling on our behind… (Trekking poles definitely helped.)

We made it back to trailhead in an hour and half and felt great with our accomplishment!

I can’t wait to take others up this peak in the very near future.
