This one really is a challenge given the hike back out of the valley following the summit and descent of Sizer. Most of the trails were fine, though extremely dusty… like hiking in beach sand in many areas. Jackass trail wasn’t in great shape – fairly overgrown with lots of poison oak pressing into the narrow trail on both sides – thankful to have on long pants and long sleeves. If you aren’t covered well, I wouldn’t recommend it – stick to the road instead. We took the ranger’s suggestions and hiked the Forest View Trail and then the Corral Trail back to the park headquarters. Nice shady trails and nicer than the road. Coyote Creek had water in it still at both crossings. We cooled our feet in the creek near Poverty Flats before lacing back up for our final ascent out.
