6:30am to 11:45am with a hour-long break at the peak. iFitness says the hike was 9miles and took 4 hrs 18 min. Climbed 180 floors, elevation gain 2400 ft.
A few sharp uphill sections, including the first 50 meters.
Option to avoid steep section: Keep left at 2nd and 3rd forks. The AllTrails app really helped us here! We opted for more direct and steeper route going toward the Baden-Powell peak and came across a few smaller peaks including Mt. Burnham. Gorgeous views. Glad we did it!
Loud and friendly woodpeckers. Evidence of recent fire. All kinds of pines! Snow plants. Gorgeous views in all directions as far as Mt. San Jacinto.
Perfect challenge: uphill portions on return trip down from peak; right mix for me (a moderate hiker in good health middle aged who does pilates) of slight incline and steeper sections without making me feel like I was just climbing up a staircase
