When I looked up at the tower I didn’t think I was going to make it up this mountain. After the first 30 min my lungs were on fire and I hadn’t hiked for nearly a month after work has been insane and I had gotten sick.
There isn’t really anything challenging regarding this hike and once I made it to the top I was very thankful I did. Saw some deer and got some much needed me time. Definitely will do this again.

Well done, Jessica! I know that feeling — looking up at the summit from a distance and shaking my head… “We’re going up THERE!?” What advice would you give others facing that feeling?
I had just gotten over the flu the week before so I told myself “just give it 30 minutes. If you still are not feeling pumped you can turn back and try another day.”
Most of the time I remind myself it’s not a race and just go one step at a time. Take breaks if you need to and you will get there. That has worked well for me and I’ve become a stronger hiker.
