I slept in on Tuesday and got to the trailhead mid-morning. It was already hot and got hotter as I went higher, so it was slow going. The only shade was what my sunhat provided. Still, when I arrived at the summit and saw the cloudless, smokeless sky adorned by all of the surrounding peaks, I felt that it had been worth every step.
