After reading reviews on where to start, I decided that I would drive up the Maple Springs Trailhead for about 3 miles to the end of the paved road, park my car and start my ascent.  I read that there were single-track short cuts that I could take, but the trail may be overgrown so I wore pants to help with the bushwhacking. We did get some cuts and scrapes from the overgrowth, so we decided that we would not take the shortcuts back down and opted to stay on the long truck trail instead. Views at the top are amazing. It was a little windy at the summit but overall the weather was perfect. The stats – 16mi out and back, 8hrs with breaks and 20min at the summit, brought 2.5L water (drank 1.5L), 30oz. electrolytes, and various salty/sweet snacks.
