Picacho Peak was a very satisfying and challenging hike. I had already done Flat Iron, and thought it was the most challenging with it length, elevation gain, and small amount of bouldering, but Picacho was nearly as challenging with its elevation gain taking place over a much shorter distance. While certainly manageable for hikers of various fitness levels, it does involve being comfortable with steep cable assisted inclines, which also make it very fun and rewarding. We again had perfect weather, though a bit cooler than expected in the shade, and felt exhilarated after making it to the peak and then back down the various inclines. Taking on Picacho with my sister was a highlight of the challenge. Oh, and don't forget your hiking gloves, or grab a pair for a few dollars at the ranger station. Those will be useful at Flat Iron as well.

Well done, Ben! Looks like you went at a perfect time of year. And congratulations on completing the challenge! 🙌
Thanks, Jeff. It was a blast! I’ll be back down in the area next month and will do Flatiron again with my sister to support her last peak of the challenge. My sister was super psyched when she made it to the peak and back down at Picacho. Your challenges are a ton of work for you, but those challenges are important work and doing good things for people.
