Got a relatively early start, around 9:00 am, courtesy over an overnight stay in Tucson. While there was no shortage of sun, the temps and breeze made it a comfortable ascent.
It was a long gradual trail to the top, and we did it as an out-and-back, instead of the loop option. It was cool to see the remnants of the copper mine along the way. The mine itself is fenced-off in the opening, so there’s not side excursion there.
The views from the top were beautiful, and it was hard to believe that Mount Lemmon, just to the east, was over 4,000’ higher than Wasson. Mountain-forecast.com said the high temp at the Lemmon summit was 55°. Based on the other elevation temps for Lemmon, I figured it was in the upper 70°s on Wasson.
