I went to Bill Williams Mountain via Benham National Recreational Trail(#38) because recent reviews stated Bill Williams trail was closed(from forest thinning work). Benham had some downed but cleared trees at very beginning. About 2 to 2.5 miles into it the trail became overgrown but passable. Then I took NF111 the remaining distance to the top of Bill Williams(~.7mi.). I decided to take my chances down Bill Williams Mountain Trail(#21) taking a shot that it was truly open. I started descending @ 5.2 mi and for the next ~1.5 mi. there was a minimum of 15 trees downed across the trail, granted they were passable I just wasn’t expecting them! I have to admit it made the trail a little more interesting! The rest of the descent was “unremarkable” compared to the top. Did not see any other hikers the whole time. Weather was great, warming up a little by the time I finished. Oh and for the record I called the Williams ranger station and was told that Bill Williams was in fact open so get out there and have fun!
