Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

The switchbacks have a nice easy grade and are perfect for trail running (down) beautiful day. Fairly easy hike compared to the last few but really nice views and done in less than 4 hrs. I’d like to try again and extend the hike to a few more peaks.

    Hi Kira! Did you start at Vincent Gap? I’m getting conflicting reports about where exactly Highway 2 is open and where it’s closed. The CalTrans site says Highway 2 is closed 10 miles east of Flintridge, but doesn’t say anything about coming west from Wrightwood. Google Maps seems to think it’s still closed from Wrightwood. Hoping for some real-world experience to help other challengers who want to hike B-P.

      I don’t know all the specifics but we came up through wrightwood and were able to park at the trailhead. I believe the gate is closed going the other direction still
