Hike Log

Black crater blowdown

Trailhead:

Black Crater Trailhead

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail difficult/impossible to navigate

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

Bugs were an annoyance

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Spectacular view but the first (and last) 2 miles were brutal due to all the downed trees and obviously lack of tree cover. I’d do it when the forest service has a chance to clear some of it out. Definitely bring trekking poles.

  1. I keep hearing that the downed trees are no joke this year. I’m going to reach out to the Forest Service and see if they have any schedule for clearing.
