7/2/2023:

On a beautiful Subday morning, I joined the Mountain Humpers Hiking Group to hike up Ontario Peak.  I got to the trailhead at 5 a.m. and the parking lots were all full.  I had to park off the side of the road.  I made sure my tires didn't go beyond the white line.  And I made sure to display my Adventure Pass.  Sure enough, some cars were fined for not having their Adventure Pass displayed.  Being a bandit does not pay.  You do the crime, you pay the fine.

Alot of hikers were starting early today.  Most of them were doing the 3Ts or hiking up Cucamonga Peak.  I, on the other hand, was hiking up to Ontario Peak.  When all the hikers in my group showed up, we started the hike.  It was a late start for us and it was getting warm.  Luckily, I dressed lightly and brought 6 liters of water.  I knew it was going to be expose and hot once we reached higher elevation.  Since I did Cucamonga Peak a week prior, I had no problem getting to the Icehouse Canyon saddle.  We took a break for awhile and continued onto Kelly Camp.  There were people camping there.  Our hike leader George had heard there was a spring/ water sprout nearby Kelly Campground.  So, we explored and found where it was.  The water flow from it was strong.  After that, we continued our ascend up to Ontario Peak.  Thank God as we went higher, we got fresh cool breeze.  That last 2.5 miles from Kelly Campground to Ontario Peak was a torture!  There were so many false summit.  Then I finally saw the big boulders and the tree.  Woohoo!  I made it.  It was starting to get warm again.  I took my summit photos, ate snacks  and rested.  I didn't stay long at Ontario Peak and headed down.

The bugs were bad coming up and down Ontario Peak.  I was a buffet to them.  I got bit so many places.  I wore my net and sprayed bug repellent.  It didn't work.

Coming down Ontario Peak I was faster.  However, I fell twice in the water spot.  The rocks were slippery.  Thank God it was on a flat ground.  I cooled myself down at the natural spring.  One of the Mountain Humpers hiker was put of the water at Ontario Peak.  I gave her a bottle of water.  Luckily, the natural spring has alot of water.  We refilled our water there.

Woohoo!  Another successful Peak hike bagged.  Ontario Peak us my 8th peak bagged of 2023.
