With nearly clear skies and temperatures in the 50s, a number of hikers were out to share this iconic peak in prime conditions, early enough to fit it in before the start of the Super Bowl if they were interested.  I’ve been up Picacho Pk. many times, and it’s always rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable.  I reflect on my memorable experiences on the peak as I pass by during each trip between Tucson and Phoenix.
The trail, steps, cables, and planks were all in great shape.  I’ll echo the recommendation on the Six Peaks site to bring gloves, grippy ones being best.  The hikers were all patient and supportive of each other, and there were no issues despite the fairly heavy traffic on the trail.
