Buggy St. Helena Hime

The start of Mount St. Helena is really nice in the shade. But after the first mile, we made it to the fire road. Beautiful views, but not the funnest trails I’ve hiked. Always fun with my amazing group of friends. Lots of laughs but also lots of bugs. Every time we stopped for a quick break in the shade, the flying insects were relentless! All six of us were bitten, buzzed, surrounded by different bugs during miles 2-5. However, the views of Calistoga and beyond were gorgeous. A fun and new hike for my group.
regarding pulling out of the right-side parking lot, I recommend turning right, driving a few hundred yards, then pulling into the turnout for a left to go back down the hill safely.
