While someone may be at the gate around 8, it is set up as a “pay on your own” any time!  Bring cash!  It’s $10 pp. I wish I had know this as we would have had an earlier start. In any case, the first two miles are not really that tough, they’re just consistent. One past, the next three are infested with thick bugs which is probably why the book time for such a long hike is quick!  The summit winds and sunshine provided some relief!  The views were great.

    Maybe not the most fun hike, but it is the highest point in San Diego County, so there’s that.
