Today my son and I decided to hike our second peak of the challenge with a stop at Mount Pinos. We started around 0830 and the day was amazing. No clouds, temps were not terribly warm, and there was a nice breeze. The forest was absolutely gorgeous, and the air was very clean and fresh. The hike to Pinos was fairly easy, except for the initial altitude adjustment. We continued on to the Condor Observation area, sadly no condors, and continued on to Sawmill Mountain. The trail up the saddle to Sawmill was a bit strenuous, but thankfully not very long so we recovered quickly once we topped out. Getting to Sawmill was awesome and we took a break and then decided to hike to Grouse Mountain to get the trifecta of mountains in the area. This turned out to be a long 11 mile 4 hour day, but it was so nice out and it was so much fun hiking with my son. I suggest this hike, it wasn't easy as there were some strenuous uphill portions, but I think most people could do it.
