I was surprised at the general lack of cars parked along the highway (this would not be the case around noon when driving back from Volcan Mountain). Did not encounter another hiker until I reached the Lake Poway Trail. Skipped climbing onto the chip and motored down the service road. Lots of folks huffing and puffing their way up.
