It took over 8 hours, covered 20.20 miles, and climbed a total of 4,649 feet of elevation to complete the Three Peak Challenge on Mt. Tamalpais on a beautiful Saturday.

Two groups from Ocean to Peak and Bay Area Hikers set out from Stinson Beach at 7:45 AM, energized and ready for the day ahead. In total, 17 strong hikers took on the challenge.

Trail conditions were excellent overall, with only minimal water on the paths in a few areas. Unsure of what to expect, I chose to wear my boots  though in hindsight; trail runners would have been the better choice.

The mountain was stunning. The forest was incredibly green, and the streams were flowing steadily from the recent rains, adding to the beauty of the hike.

After pushing through some brush around the 8-mile mark, we reached West Peak. From there, we continued on to the West Point Inn for a well-earned 15-minute break.

Refreshed, we pressed on to Middle Peak before making it to summit of East Peak for photos, celebration, and congratulations all around.

The journey back led us down through the woods along the Steep Ravine Trail, descending through lush forest scenery before finally arriving back at Stinson Beach.

It was an incredibly long and demanding hike — but absolutely worth it.

Thank you to all the hikers who joined me on this adventure.
