Wildflowers blooming

This time, we decided to start early, before 5:00 AM. We arrived at the trailhead while it was still dark, but the small parking lot was already half full. The start of the trail was an instant ascent, leaving no time to warm up. 😅

We were treated to a very beautiful alpenglow hitting those red rocks. Even though the trail kept ascending with a few switchbacks, the sun was not hitting our side. About halfway up, where the sign to Wilson Mountain is located, it started to get real and exposed. When the Sedona and North Canyon overlooks split, the trail became more forgiving toward the Sedona overlook. For a short while, we entered the forest, and at the end, the overlook was there, waiting..

The trail was intermittently lined with different wildflowers, most of which were unfamiliar to me. We had fun capturing portraits of some of them. Despite the sun being in full force, we completed it in a decent amount of time. We enjoyed a very cold soda in the parking lot, then headed out to our temporary home. ☺️
