We drove down to Manitou Springs, parked at the free parking lot and took the shuttle to the Manitou Incline. The Manitou Incline was in good condition with easily avoidable snow and ice on the steps on the way up. The main trail from the top of the Incline was easy to follow, if you arrive at a closed trail then you've turned to the left too soon. There is a post marking the trail where it splits into two forks. Head up to the right fork for Rocky Mountain, the trail is very faint and a bit hard to follow, especially in the snow. Someone before us broke trail half way up Rocky Mountain Peak and we had to continue creating a new trail, post holing 2.5-3 ft deep. By following the ridge, we found the summit and the ladder. Micro spikes were helpful going down the Barr Camp Trail with patches of ice in shaded areas. The hike was nice with stunning views of Pikes Peak at the summit.

Thanks for breaking the trail, Craig!
Looks like you’re carrying a big load. Are you training for something?
