Loved this hike. We went counter clockwise and added a side trip Sturtevant Falls, which was definitely worth the short detour (added about a mile. You do get views of it from the trail even if you don’t detour to the base of it). We were all glad we went counter clockwise, which gave us less technical terrain after we were tired from summiting.
The trail was almost completely shaded, except for right around the summit. Definitely recommend a conservative pace in the beginning because it gets considerably steeper during the last ~two miles to the summit (beginning soon after Sturtevant Camp)
The chantry flats parking lot was full when we got there at 6:20am (Saturday of Memorial Day weekend). The toilets at the trailhead hadn’t been cleaned recently and were both out of toilet paper. But once we got going, we loved it!
