Solo backpacking trip on Sept 11. A sad day of remembrance and a moment of silence to honor this day. This hike was not easy today the altitude and my 30 lb pack almost got the best of me! Not to mention I forgot my trekking poles! Once I got to camp I set up on a perfect city view site. I had the whole camp to myself. A few day hikers passed by but ultimately I was alone. The sunset, city lights, stars and near full moon were an amazing show during the night.
The next morning the sunrise was so beautiful so I grabbed my Dirty Chai Latte and oatmeal and watched the show. I knew I had to get to the peak so I grabbed my summit pack and took off to summit San Bernardino Peak! I felt great and I had the summit all to myself!
Being solo has so many rewards although a slight thought of “What if’s” but being out here and experiencing the Wild being solo has some great rewards. It’s not about just peak bagging, it’s about the journey!

Beautiful shots, Snochik! I’ve done the same, overnighting at Limber Pines Flat. It’s a great way to experience San Bernardino Peak.
