We arrived at the Trailhead around 10:20. There was no one manning the entry gate, so as directed by the Tribal Police (a few weeks earlier), we dropped a sealed envelope containing $10 per hiker with our information (vehicle info, number hikers, etc.) into the mail box slot located on the guard shack door.
The trail is an easy to follow fire road all the way to the summit. There was plenty of snow on the road. We used micro spikes from about the 2 mile mark on. Temperatures were pretty steady throughout the hike at about 55 degrees. No wind. We ended the hike with 10.2 miles and just over 2400’ in total elevation gain. We only saw two other hikers all day.
