Hiked to Strawberry Peak this morning, starting at 5:30 a.m. with temperatures around 74°F. The early start meant I got to catch a beautiful sunrise and had no trouble finding parking—there’s a big parking lot in the Red Box area.
As the sun came up, it warmed up more than I usually like. The final climb to the peak was brutal, but the views made it worth it. After soaking them in and getting some extra hydration, I started the trek back down.
There were a lot more hikers heading up, and some were already struggling with the heat. In total, it was 3.5 hours of hiking and 5.5 hours of driving.
The things hikers do… absolutely crazy! 🥾😂
