It’s a great hike — beautiful views of the entire south bay. But it’s dusty and it will get hot in the summer, so leave early. But not too early. The upper park road to the Black Mountain parking lot/trail head does not open until 7am.  However, if you’re too late you will be waiting in line for parking, as there are only 22 spots — and no road parking at all. (Tickets in the park are expensive.)
