2 Days on Camels Hump

Took a two day trip up Camels Hump – Parked a car at the Duxbury Window Long Trail head and drove another car around to start our trek on the Monroe trail to the summit.

The Summit was in a cloud, cold, windy and wet. Not much of a view but got a few good ridge line views on the way up. Hiked with my wife, our dog, and our friends and their dog.

After the summit the bulk of day was spent trekking along the ridge line towards Bamforth Ridge Shelter (long trail north) – it was a grueling 3 miles of up and down ridge line hiking – with gear- it was a challenge for sure. After spending a pretty nice night camping at the shelter (care taker was missing, but otherwise pretty well maintained shelter) we began our 5.8 mile trek north on the long trail past the Duxbury window (great little view with a bench) to our parking area at the Duxbury window trail head.

All said and done it was about a 10.3 mile trek through some amazing mountainous VT terrain with a slightly underwhelming Camel’s Hump summit.
