at least to the original Ineseño-speaking dwellers of the Traverse Range, West of the Tejon Pass in Southern California.
My visit to the “Center of the World” according to the Chumash People, was a side-challenge within a challenge.
There are three peaks to conquer; two of which are consecutively highest peaks of the neighboring Kern and Ventura counties.
You don’t get to start the countdown until you reach the last Peak on this 11mi 2.2k ft trail, thus locally known as the “3.. 2.. 1 Challenge.”
