#6!!! High Point

Parked in the Palomar Hot Shots parking lot and followed the signs to the trail.  No bathroom facilities at the bottom or the top so come prepared.  Followed a flat dirt road out to the sign for Oak Grove trail.  This steep trail goes through chaparral with lots of switchbacks to gain elevation quickly.  It joins up with the fire road which you then follow the rest of the way.  The fire road is in surprisingly good condition considering all of the rain we had a few weeks ago.  Near the top there were patches of snow which brought a nice break to a surprisingly warm day considering the forecast was only 62.  Beautiful view from the top, could see lakes Vail, Elsinore and Perris all at the same time.  Not a very crowded trail at all, just a few other groups were on there with us.  Used all 5 liters of water I brought with me so plan for that.  Super tired, but excited to have accomplished #6!  I would say that this is easier than El Cajon Mtn. but I’m just as pooped as I was after that so maybe not.
