A Quartz Bonus
Also on this hike
Even though I had already completed the Challenge, I decided to tackle this as a bonus peak. The drive to the trailhead was just as challenging if not more challenging than the hike itself. Four-wheel drive vehicles should be used to access the trailhead as the roads are unpaved and sandy. The weather was sunny. The cairns on the trail are useful but its easy to lose the trail and engage in additional scrambling on the ridge to the summit. The final scramble to the summit is not too bad, although one must be careful. I had the summit all to myself. Got back to my car after sunset but was able to drive out safely.
