A Stroll To Strawberry Peak
In keeping with my unambitious start to the year I did the 2nd of the 6 Pack with one of the easiest. I got a late start, 7am, due to an accident closing the ACH at the junction, but finally got to the trailhead just before 7. I ran into a few early birds who were coming down after catching the sunrise, and ran into a few hikers on the way up. It’s an easy one, and a nice cool day for it, so the trail was relatively busy and much busier on the way back.
The trail is nice and easy with some decent views. A little bit of a scramble, but not much. I always find that the hardest part is after I finish the scramble and think that I should be on top but there’s still a little walk. The peak was crowded and getting more so, so I only stayed long enough for a snack and a couple of pictures. Going back is harder for a fat old guy going down the steep sections, but I’ve been on plenty worse and knew what to expect. Strawberry Peak is a nice hike, as long as it’s not too hot. I would have liked a little snow but we have been having a relatively snow-free winter.
