Baldy on Memorial Day

Got to Manker Flats at 5;30am with only a few cars in the lot. Went the ski hut route with nice morning temps and light traffic. Little break at the ski hut with winds picking up a little making it a bit chilly until the sun popped out from behind the ridge line. Continued our way up to the summit where the weather was fantastic. Not too many people as it was still fairly early. Took in the view with some snacks and started to make our way down Devils Backbone. Decided to hit Mt. Harwood as a side trip joining back up with my buddy at the register ridge backbone Harwood junction. Had a beer at the notch but I missed ringing the bell as tradition when finished. I guess it’s gone or I’m blind. Made our way down the fire road and had a nice lunch at the Baldy lodge out on the patio. Great Memorial Day!
