Black Butte

We did 3 peaks this weekend (Castle Dome, Helen Lake).  This was by far the prettiest in terms of fall foliage.  Tons of rocks but also lots more color and a gorgeous view of Mount Shasta (beautiful views from all three, really).  The weather was perfect but it was pretty windy, especially at the top where my hat was blown off.  🙁   We did 5.6 miles in 3 hours and 56 minutes which was a breeze compared to Helen Lake the day before.  The ascent was not subtle and the rocks were a challenge – DO NOT FORGET YOUR POLES!
