Really nice, albeit challenging, hike with a lot of veritcal. Trail is smooth and non-technical, though, and in great condition. Perfect weather, warm but not hot, and cooler on top. Glad for the hiking poles again. My out-of-shape legs needed all the upper body assist they could get on the steeper stretches.

The trailhead is a great spot. This is my only Black Mountain hike so I can’t compare to other starting points, but I would definitely recommend this trailhead.
