Brave Diablo early while it is cool

Tried a new starting point and route up for this year. The Macedo Ranch Staging was a little closer to get to for us and the trail up isn’t quite as steep for the most part.  We did miss a turn along the way up which made for a longer trip, but what we missed was a very steep section – we saw on the way back down.

Winter also makes for excellent visibility, but this day was only maybe 50 miles.  Still a lot to see in that distance from the most visible peak in the bay area. We explored the Mary Bowerman loop trail and was impressed by both the accessible aspect of this boardwalk trail as well as great views from there.

Nice to have gotten this tall one out of the way early!
